10 Best Beef Accompaniments

By

We all have our favorite garnishes, sauces and the like when it comes to beef.

Our friends at Shortlist have put together a list of “The 10 Best Accompaniments to Beef” – and there’s not a bottle of A1 in sight.

Granted, they are British, and tastes are just slightly different from the States. But I’ll have to go with them here. These are all pretty tasty.

And I never liked A1 anyway. But YOU be the judge. What do you think of these beef accompaniments?

Maybe you’ll find the perfect meal for this weekend among them. Check them out here!

Yes, A Bacon Coffin

By

So if you’ve been following what’s going on in bacon news (and I know that you do), you’ve no doubt seen the new bacon coffin on the market from J & D’s.

If not, you’re in for a treat! The above beauty can be all yours for a mere $3,000 and you can be assured that you will rest in heavenly bacon glory for all eternity. Amen.

There’s even a Facebook page dedicated to bacon coffins.

Could this possibly be a case of taking things too far?

Like going to a job interview decked out in Lakers gear? Or painting your house Boise State colors? Or naming your kid “DIRECTV” so you’ll be sure to get free satellite service forever?

I mean, my family can attest to the fact that I LOVE BACON. Just come over on Sunday morning and see if YOU get the last piece. Hint:  It’s mine.

But there is a limit. And I think spending the afterlife in a bacon-themed casket goes well beyond it.

What do you think? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you think people should get a life and let people have their fun?

I wanna know!

Pineapple Steak?

By

We all know that a beautiful Teriyaki sauce can be enhanced with pineapple to make for an unforgettable steak marinade.

BUT, did you know that pineapple enzymes are a great tenderizer for your steak?

It’s all due to a protein-digesting enzyme called bromelain found in pineapple. Bromelain breaks down the collagen or protein in your steaks – thus, creating a more tender piece of beef.

Read more about this fascinating scientific and culinary topic here.

Prescription for Steak

By

The doctor is in!

This is the greatest prescription I’ve ever seen.

“Due to low iron, eat one steak per week in addition to current consumption”

I must get this doctor’s contact info and promptly move to this city.

Have you ever seen such a thing of beauty?

Perhaps it’s a joke. But, seriously, you can’t tease people like this. Steak is no joke.

What do YOU make of this prescription for steak???

Spring Steak!

By

It’s the first day of spring! This day makes me so happy every year.

It signals warmer weather ahead and that makes me utterly giddy.

And in honor of the spring season, just last week, we took a spring break trip with the kids to the Bahamas. They were off school for a week.  We’ve never done such a thing before and we didn’t know what to expect.

We usually travel to such exotic locales as:  Oklahoma City, Houston and Pearl, Mississippi. Don’t get me wrong, we have mad love for all those places – but let’s just say they aren’t featured on the Travel Channel very often.

We had been saving up for quite a while and when the day finally came for us to leave on our big trip, we were anxious, excited and thrilled.

While there, my husband and I decided we couldn’t leave without sampling a Bahamian steak. It had to happen.

What you see above is a Bahamian Kansas City strip steak. Medium.

Exquisite.

THIS made the trip even more memorable. And it proved to us that a quality steak is a quality steak no matter where you go in the world.

It all starts with a great cut of beef. If you don’t have that, it’s over.

Thank goodness this was incredible. They know how to do steak right on the island!

What an amazing way to welcome spring!!!

Celebrity Steak

By

Ever wonder how your favorite celebrities like their steak?

Okay, I’m sure you don’t spend hours each day pondering this. But, admit it, you do wonder.

Well, singer Aaron Carter shared his strange – yet intriguing – steak marinade idea with us. And there are some among us who might just enjoy it.

Who in tarnation is Aaron Carter, you ask?

That’s not important. He likes steak! He’s one of us!

Click here to read about Aaron’s unusual steak marinade. Maybe you’d like to try it yourself. If you do, let me know what you think. Uh, cuz I don’t think I’ll be actually trying it myself. But that’s just me.

Happy marinating!
