So this visually stunning piece of eye candy really gets me where it counts.

A burger cone? Yes, please!

Check out more amazing edible art at JeremyRiad.com. Just don’t do it on an empty stomach – it’ll start growling!

Put Some Spring in Your Steak

By

It’s springtime. That means warmer weather, SHORTS (!) and being outside.

That makes me so happy!

It also means I feel the urge to eat lighter. Something about sunny days (maybe it’s the desire to not look like a blob in lighter clothes) makes me want to consume lighter fare.

These delicious steaks certified by the American Heart Association to be extra lean are a good way to tame my cravings, but perhaps a bit more delicately.

They’re heart healthy and satisfying without the feeling of a heavy meal.

Absolutely perfect!

You can order AHA-certified steaks here and try all the different offerings — steakburgers, steaks and Top Sirloin tips. Yummo!

And, uh, if you create a really delicious recipe with these, please share it here! We’re always looking for something different to try.

Happy spring, everybody!

Spotlight on Top Sirloin

By

The beauty of being a steak lover is that there are so many cuts to love. And all for different reasons.

Let’s chat, ladies and gents, about all there is to love about the one and only Top Sirloin.

Top Sirloin is definitely in my Top 3 because it’s a versatile cut that’s lean and firm.

It’s cut from the center of the sirloin (check out that fancy graphic above) and is muy delicioso as a sandwich steak.

Top Sirloin steaks are also great for grilling. They hold up really well on the grill and come out so flavorful.

Okay, my mouth is watering now.

What’s your favorite cut of steak? Where does the Top Sirloin rank for you?

April Fool’s Bacon?

By

Maybe you’ve seen the ads for this bacon mouthwash. What’s the verdict – do you think it’s an April Fool’s Day joke?

I mean, I love bacon, but honestly I usually use mouthwash AFTER I’ve had bacon. At the same time? Nah.

I would be tempted to try it. You know, for society’s sake and all.

What do you think? If it’s a real product, will you buy it?

Basketball Players Need Steak!

By

In this article, the University of Kentucky’s men’s basketball coach laments his team’s restrictions on food put on them by the NCAA.

The team – and all NCAA teams – must adhere to the strict three meals a day rule and no more. His players are going hungry!

Imagine burning 2,500 calories a pop and not being able to refuel your body if it’s not a set mealtime. Elite athletes don’t work this way!

Folks, we can’t change the NCAA rules but we can eat for our teams, right?

That’s how I look at it. As I watch the NCAA Tournament games this weekend I’ll be fueling up for those guys.

It’s the least I can do. But, really, I wish I could send them a big Porterhouse (see above). Surely that would get them through!

But, apparently, that would be like buying them a car according to the rules. Don’t want to violate any rules.

What do you think? Should the rules be changed to allow players to eat when their bodies need it? They’re starving!

How to Grill a Great Filet Mignon Video

In this video, the Kansas City Steak Company‘s corporate chef shows us how to get the most out of a beautiful filet mignon.

That’s one steak you don’t want to overcook – its juiciness and tenderness are essential to this particular cut.

Check out these key tips and then grill away, my friends!

I always say, “A great griller is an informed griller.”

Okay, I don’t always say that. That wouldn’t make me very fun at parties. But it makes sense, right?

Enjoy!

St. Patrick’s Corned Beef and Cabbage

By

Corned beef, a traditional Irish dish, starts off as a beautiful brisket (like the one above – minus the barbecue sauce) and is “corned” or preserved in a salty brine.

Wanna do St. Patrick’s Day this weekend up right? It’s corned beef and cabbage all the way.

This article gives a great background on the dish and its roots in Ireland. Follow the simple instructions and you can create a beautiful corned beef and cabbage meal for your brood. They’ll love it!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Enjoy the day!
