Natural Born Griller

By

Is this little guy you?

I saw him in the supermarket (note the price tag) and actually thought about my husband. He’s got the grill thing down.

So what are you grilling this weekend? Hotdogs? Burgers? Steaks?

We’ve got a whole summer ahead of us to enjoy grilling weather. Check out some of these yummy grilling essentials – especially for your 4th of July celebration.

We should all whoop it up right! And Independence Day is just around the corner!

Do Alligators Eat Burgers?

By

Never thought you had anything in common with an alligator?

Well, here’s photographic evidence that you do.

Now you’ll have something to talk about at parties!

A group of revelers in Florida were minding their own business, having a burger picnic by the water, when they spied a hungry-looking gator swimming toward them.

As any sane person would do, they jumped out of the way – and grabbed their camera. Cuz that would be my first thought. Where’s my camera?

You can check out the whole story, plus more photos of the scary experience here.

Anyway, alligators apparently like burgers just as much as you and I do. So there. There’s your answer to the age-old question:  Do alligators eat burgers?

Yes. Yes, they do!

Test Your BBQ Knowledge

By

Did you know that the term “barbecue” might have come from the French barbe a queue? It means “from whiskers to tail” and refers to a time when an entire animal was cooked over an open fire.

Yeah, I didn’t either.

There are lots of other BBQ tidbits in “14 Things You May Not Know About Barbecue.”

Things like the fact that people in the Northeast are the most frequent barbecuers in the U.S. Sounds hard to believe to me. It seems like such a Southern thing.

Read on here for more barbecue trivia and test your knowledge. Even better, test it while you’re eating a burger, a steak, ribs, kabobs

Sauce Your Burger Like the Pros

By

We’ve talked about how a sauce can make or break a steak.

Well, the same goes for a great burger. Naturally!

Famous restaurants are KNOWN for their burger sauces. So why not replicate them at home?

The Daily Meal has the 411 on some well-known sauces so you can do just that. Check out their recipes for Big Mac Sauce and more!

Stay on your patio and enjoy all the flavor of the restaurant down the street. Sounds perfect to me!

Happy saucing!

A History of Burgers

By

Burger, hamburger, steakburger. Call it what you will – there are many variances.

But one thing remains constant – we love ‘em!

I’ve always heard that the term “hamburger” came from those brilliant folks in Hamburg who first came up with the idea.

But that was in the 1800s when German immigrants brought it to the U.S. What about before then? Surely there was a version before that.

Since we Americans eat an average of three (THREE!) burgers a week, it’s fun to know just how this meal came to be.

So if you’re fascinated, like me, you can check out “The History of Hamburgers” and see for yourself. It’s full of interesting little tidbits about the meal we know and love. So read on!

Then, go make yourself a big, juicy one. You deserve it!

BBQ Christmas Cheer

By

A bit of levity for your tree – and it’s got steak on it!

This glass ornament from TJ’s includes a BBQ grill with corn, a burger, steak and something green that is unidentifiable.

Anybody know what that is?

No matter. The burger and steak are what’s important here.

Don’t you want to hang them on your tree?

This officially qualifies as totally awesome.

Merry Steakmas?!?!!!

Biggest Bacon Burger!

By

Check that out!

Recently, the Black Bear Casino Resort in Minnesota broke the world record for the largest hamburger. It is, in fact, a bacon cheeseburger weighing in at more than a ton.

A ton!

I don’t know if I’m enticed or really grossed out.

Can I be both?

A CRANE had to flip that bad boy. Now that’s a serious burger.

But the best part of all (besides the incredible teamwork and culinary skill that went into this feat)? After the world record was verified spectators got to eat that amazing creation.

At least none of it went to waste. THAT would have been a real tragedy.

Read more about this “behomoth burger” here.

10 Most Expensive Burgers

By

Love burgers?

Well, after you read this article you can decide just how much you love burgers. How far are you willing to go for a to-die-for burger? Or, more accurately, PAY for such a burger.

The article compiles a list of the “10 Most Expensive Burgers in the World.” The kind of burgers set aside for royalty, heads of state and, maybe, unicorns.

Would you pay, say, $5,000 for one? That is, if it had foie gras and a bunch of other expensive goodies thrown in?

The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas is betting you will.

Or somebody will.

Some of these concoctions on the list come with Kobe beef and are topped with Maine lobster and paired with a Dom Perignon.

But that one’s only $777. Your lucky number!

Sound tempting? Read on here for more jaw-dropping burger offerings. And, tell me, would you partake?
