Couple Appreciation Month: Dinner for Two?

Two Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon

April is Couple Appreciation Month. I take this to mean we should all appreciate couples and if you’re one half of a couple, appreciate your other half.

The way we do that in my house? Food! Good food.

Namely steaks.

Now appreciating your partner might look like filet mignons to you, Porterhouse steaks to your neighbor or ribeyes to your mother-in-law.

However you see it, steaks are the way to go.

Dinner for two with exceptionally grilled steaks and maybe some candles flickering is basically the international language of appreciation and love.

Am I right?

Don’t let this month pass without some couple appreciation in your life. You – and your other half – will be thankful!

What is the Best Steak?

Dinner for Two Club

That question is like saying, “Who is your favorite child?”

How can you possibly answer?

There’s no question the QUALITY of a steak is a good measure. And grade – like USDA Prime steaks or even Wagyu Kobe beef – makes a difference.

But what is the best cut? Depends on what you’re after.

Want something tender and juicy? Filet mignons. Hands down.

Hearty and meaty? Ribeye, T-bone steaks and Porterhouse steaks.

Flavorful? Kansas City strip steaks. Definitely.

So… what is the best steak TO YOU?

That answer will probably be different for everyone. And that’s one thing I love about steak!

Time To Try a Seafood Bake

Seafood Bake

I simply adore a full meal cooked all at once!

The many flavors blend together for such a delicious final product.

A Seafood Bake mixes Maine lobster tails, shrimp, mussels, scallops, corn on the cob and baby potatoes with a rich, herbed lemon butter sauce.

Sound delicious? It is!

At my house, we add steak on the barbie for the ultimate surf and turf.

Sheer heaven.

I prefer ribeye steaks but my husband is partial to Kansas City strip steaks. But any steak cut makes sense with a Seafood Bake. It all works!

Itching to try it? All you need to do is bake for just under an hour. That’s it! Add a little Chardonnay and you’re all set.

It doesn’t get any simpler than that. Less time working and more time enjoying!

Gift Ideas for Hard-to-Buy-For Folks

By

Boxedgiftset_3Fall2014_LRG

We’ve all got ‘em.

Those people on your gift list who either have everything or don’t like anything.

What do you get them at holiday time?

I always go with my gut. Literally. Food is something we ALL enjoy.

Give steaks!

Steak gifts always make a huge impression. And with all the variety of steaks out there – from ribeyes and T-bones, to filet mignon and Kobe beef – you can customize it so that it’s just right.

And if steak gift packages are too tall an order, just give ‘em a gift card and let THEM choose which steaks they like best.

Problem solved. It’ll be a happy holiday for all!

Summertime Favorites

By

strip_chk_burger_Detail

Oh, those beautiful summer days!

They’re coming to a close. But we still have a few days to savor the tastes of wonderful, glorious summer.

My summertime favorites?

Anything light and easy.

A fresh chicken breast on the grill. A little lemon juice and some greens and I’m a happy gal.

Burgers! Adding avocado at this time of year is so refreshing and delicious.

Grilled tenderloin salad. Try this one with peaches, pecans and limes. It looks, tastes and smells like summer.

And finally … steaks! A ribeye is my fave any time of year. Just sitting outside in the summer sun, smelling the aroma of a steak on the grill puts me in my happy place fast.

How about you? What are your summertime classics? Time is running out!

Everything Ribeye!

By

Oh, the glorious ribeye! How I love you!

It’s my absolute favorite cut. It’s tender, but rich and hearty. Just the way I like it!

With or without the bone, it’s sliced from the prime rib. And so, so succulent.

The bone has been rumored to give the meat even more flavor, but for me, I prefer the simplicity of boneless. Beauty is, you get to decide for yourself!

Want to pair a ribeye with a nice wine? Try a Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for maximum impact. This wine pairing chart is fun to peruse when cooking a beautiful steak dinner.

Trying out a ribeye soon? Watch the ribeye video on this page. It’s a wonderful resource for chef tips and advice on cooking your ribeye perfectly. Check it out and heed this advice! :)

And when you’re ready to dive in, the ribeye recipes here are to die for! Try your hand at whipping up some Chipotle Buttered Ribeye Steaks or even Spicy Ribeyes Topped with Blue Cheese. You’ll be a pro in no time!

All this ribeye talk is making me hungry. I know what I’m having for dinner. How about you?

Ribeye is a Bone-In Beauty

By

Have you ever experienced this slice of heaven?

I mean, a bone-in ribeye. Have you ever had one?

It’s slightly different. Meatier, more flavorful. The bone gives it a boost.

Plus, it’s just a really beautiful piece of beef. Just look at how elegant it looks plated like that.

A beautiful sight to behold.

This gorgeous treat is the Kansas City Steak Company’s June Item of the Month.

It might be the perfect time to step out of your box and try it if you haven’t.

Or indulge again if this isn’t your first rodeo.
