Flintstones Steak

By

Okay, folks. What kind of steak is portrayed here?

I grew up watching “The Flintstones.” I, too, marveled at the size of that monstrous steak Dino was always panting over.

I’ve heard lore that it is indeed a Porterhouse.

But what do you think?

Is that really what it is – or could it be another cut?

You tell me!

Searing Unthawed Steaks

By

This cool video from NYTimes.com. instructs us how to sear a steak that hasn’t been thawed. They even use a blowtorch!

If you have one handy. If you don’t, don’t sweat it. :)

This is a great way to prepare a steak if you like it rare. It seals in the flavor and keeps the steak crazy juicy.

Check it out and try it this weekend!!

Beef Lover’s Dessert

You love beef. I just know it.

And the perfect ending to a beefy cookout is this precious ice cream “slider.”

Isn’t it adorable?

It’s got chocolate and vanilla ice cream discs with a caramel-nut syrup in a brioche sandwich.

Too cute!

The kids in your life (or the kid in you) will love it!

Country Steak

By

I love this.

Real? Photoshopped?

No idea.

All I know is I’d eat it. Salt and pepper, a few minutes on the grill and douse it with some Teriyaki sauce.

Mmmm. I’d start with Florida first. It looks ready to be cut into bite-sized pieces.

No offense, Floridians. It just looks tasty.

What do you think this is? A big ‘ol ribeye?

That’s very American, so we’ll go with that.

What cut do you think this is?

Beautiful Filet

By

It’s Friday. And sometimes all I want to do after a tough week is look at purdy pictures. And in the event you feel the same way, here you go…

Look at that thick, thick filet mignon and the huge dollop of garlic and herb steak butter.

I think I am in love.

Here’s another angle. . .

And finally, the meal in action. . .

These gorgeous works of art come to us courtesy of WhitsAmuseBouche.com where she gives us all the nitty gritty about this gorgeous filet meal. Check it out.

If this isn’t the best way to get your weekend started, I don’t know what is! Enjoy!

Cancer-Fighting Burger?

By

We’ve all heard certain foods are good for our health.

Well, Elizabeth H. Jeffery, Ph.D., says we can create a “superfood” for fighting cancer just by piling on the right ingredients on our protein-packed burger patty.

She says to include things like mushrooms, onions, leafy greens – even ketchup!

Click here to read all about the topping she suggests and then find your perfect patty over here. There’s even a steakburger with onions already in it!

Have fun creating your Superburger – and stay healthy, my friends!

Friday the 13th Steak Bites

By

It’s Friday the 13th!

I’m not very superstitious, but this day does have kind of a Halloweeny-type feel, doesn’t it?

And in that spirit I give you. . . Steak Bites with Bloody Mary Dipping Sauce.

Festive, right?

These come from the super fabulous Rachael Ray so you know they’re good!

They’re bite-sized sirloin with a tasty sauce for dipping. But you could also use tenderloin tips.

Check out the recipe here – and have yourself a spooky dinner tonight!

Oh, Beautiful Hot Dog

By

I just found out that July is National Hot Dog Month.

Where have I been? It’s almost the middle of July and I’m just now finding this out?

MY fave dogs are all-beef hot dogs. It’s just how I roll. The flavor is outstanding and these are my pick for “Top Dog.”

How about you? Are you a hot dog fan? Will you be celebrating all month long?

July is just full of celebrations, isn’t it?

Spray Your Burger

By

Have you ever sprayed your food?

I’ll admit, I have not. It simply has never occurred to me.

But I have been hearing about this flavorful spray for burgers (or anything else you wish to spray) that gives them that extra umph we’re sometimes looking for.

Umami is a popular restaurant chain in California. But I don’t live in California and I was unfamiliar with the fabulosity that is Umami.

Until…the spray. Which I can order online. It’s a combo of plant and seafood essences that gives your burger or steak or anything a bit of salty pizazz. You decide how much.

Like the taste but need more Umami? Just spray on more!

If only everything were this simple.

Check it out on your next burger and tell me if you’re a Umami fan now. Visit the site here. Then spray away!

Steak Artistry

By

Sometimes a beautiful steak dinner is more like a work of art.

THIS is one of those times.

I knew you, my friends, would appreciate the artistry of this beautifully constructed meal.

Can’t you just taste it?

That’s the sign of a true artist. This touched me, so it did its job.

Steak tonight, anyone? :)

Soldiers’ 4th of July Steaks

By

Take a look at how some of our country’s finest celebrated their 4th of July last year.

Hint:  It involves steaks.

Kunduz, Afghanistan, is not where I’d want to be to celebrate our country’s birthday. But these soldiers do what has to be done.

EXACTLY what this country is all about.

Hope you enjoyed those steaks, soldiers!
