Summer Grill Fiesta

By

How was your Father’s Day?

Ours was pretty good, I must say! And I wasn’t even the one being celebrated!

My dad and the hubby got sufficiently feted and fussed over. And steaks were on the menu as you can see. It was a regular SUMMER GRILL FIESTA!

Someone was using his noggin when setting the permanent date for Father’s Day in June when the sun is shining and the grill is smoking.

I hope all you dads out there felt as cherished as ours did. A steak always says “I love you” at our house!

Steak: It’s Got Father’s Day Written All Over It

By

I like to give my dad something manly every year for Father’s Day:  gorgeous, satisfying steak. (Clarification:  I don’t feel manly when I eat MY steak, but the kind my dad likes, well, is pretty manly.)

Nothing makes his eyes light up more than when he discovers he will soon be one with a steak. So why wouldn’t I want to give that to him on a day to honor Dad?

I’m going to cook mine a lovely, thick, Kansas City strip steak. It’s his fave.

But you could check out these Father’s Day gift options and give your Pops a gift-boxed steak combo, some USDA Prime beef or even a gift card to let him choose what strikes his fancy.

Either way, your dad will know you love him. ‘Cause where I come from, nothing says love like a great steak.

Happy gifting, everybody!

Mother’s Day Steak and Lobster

By

Your mom deserves the best, right?

Well, does it get any swankier than steak and lobster?

I didn’t think so.

Choose Mom’s favorite cut and pair it with yummy lobster tails this Sunday (you know, Mother’s Day) to show her she’s something special.

Moms like that.

The gorgeous cold water lobster tails above were prepared for me by my honeys.  Awesome, no?

Here’s a fantastic resource for cooking tips for your steak AND lobster. Follow these instructions and you can’t go wrong.

Happy Mother’s Day this weekend!

Oh, all the flavors of this beautiful meal will dance on your tongue! So yummy!

It calls for bottom round steaks but I’d use skirt steak myself. You use what makes you happy!

More Steaky Ornament Fun

By

If you liked the BBQ grill ornament I showed you for your tree, get a load of these babies . . .

These two (above) might be my faves – so life-like!

Sometimes you want to use your Christmas tree to make a statement. Well, here ya go!

A keepsake with a bit of whimsy, this one’s called “Grillin’ and Chillin’ 2012.” Yes.

Often, the simplest message is the very best. Your tree is begging for this one.

You can see more steak Christmas ornaments here.

Let them bring the message of peace, hope and love that only steak can.

BBQ Christmas Cheer

By

A bit of levity for your tree – and it’s got steak on it!

This glass ornament from TJ’s includes a BBQ grill with corn, a burger, steak and something green that is unidentifiable.

Anybody know what that is?

No matter. The burger and steak are what’s important here.

Don’t you want to hang them on your tree?

This officially qualifies as totally awesome.

Merry Steakmas?!?!!!

The Art of Bacon

By

Still looking for a last-minute holiday gift for that special someone?

If he/she likes bacon, this is it.

It’s a portrait of Kevin Bacon . . . made entirely of bacon.

Does it get more appealing than that?

I think not.

Happy holidays and may the bacon be with you.

Meaty 12-12-12!

By

Okay, it’s 12-12-12 and you know how we celebrate everything in my house, right?

Steak!

But, let’s come up with some creative ways to do this every-100-years thing right! Invite some people over, then try these festive ideas:

1. Serve 12 different cuts of steak – come on, you can do it!

2. Combine 12 cool spices and create an awesome rub for your roast.

3. Easy. Just invite 12 friends to eat steak. Boom.

4. Everyone gets a 12-ounce ribeye.

5. Serve whatever steak you want, but then go around the table and collectively come up with 12 things you’re thankful for.

6. Ask a 12-year-old to recite the “12 Days of Christmas” while you eat your steak.

And if you’re celebrating Hanukkah on this spectacular day, you’ve totally got this celebration thing under control.

Okay, now you come up with the next 6 to make 12 cool things to do on this awesome day. I need a 12-minute breather.

It’s amazing how something that had nothing to do with steak turns into a steak-related holiday in my mind.

Really, aren’t all special days steak-related in some way?

Happy 12-12-12, everyone!

Kansas City BBQ? Yes, Please!

By

‘Tis the season for barbecue?

Totally!

Listen, with all the merry makers coming in and out of your house this month you’ve got lots of meals to provide.

And turkey and ham for two weeks straight just isn’t going to cut it.

At our house, we usually prepare lots of BBQ favorites to have around for BBQ dinners, BBQ sandwiches, even BBQ breakfast (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!).

It helps when lots of the heavy lifting has already been done for you like the sweet BBQ flank steak above that’s already been slathered with a yummy citrusy sauce. You just pick your cooking method (grilling, roasting, pan frying, broiling) and serve!

It seriously makes the holidays more enjoyable for me.

Peruse all the great BBQ options and save your sanity this holiday season.

Bon appetit! (Just pretend I said that with a really twangy accent. Yee haw!)
