O Steaky Night

holidaysteak

All was quiet in the house (well, except for the kids)

We decided it was time for a strip

So that’s what we did

A salad to start

Some mashed potatoes as a side

We talked about the holidays — and life

It’s been quite a ride

How did it get to be Christmastime already?

A few days ago it was 70 degress

Now the snow is comin’ down heavy

Nothin’ like grilling with your gloves on

When you’re serious about a steak

It was fun while it lasted —

Our at-home holiday date.

Smart Steak Cuts for Lean Times

The L.A. Times had a great article recently about choosing less-expensive cuts of beef and cooking them to the point where they’re absolutely fabulous.

And in these tough economic times, it seems we’re all looking to save ourselves some dough — while still enjoying our favorite meals.

Check out the article here — and let me know what you think! If there’s one thing I just can’t sacrifice it’s my steak, man.

A girl’s gotta eat, right?

Poll: Christmas Dinner Meals (Hint: Beef)

roast beef

Our friends over at Epicurious.com always have interesting things to stimulate our brains as well as our taste buds. Right now, they’ve got a poll going asking YOU (and me) what we typically eat for our holiday meal.

My beloved steaks are in the running, but take a look at what meal is the front runner. *Wink, wink* it’s one of my favorites, too!

What’s your vote?

Take the poll here.

Oh, and where can you get the most popular items in this poll? Right here of course.
