Beefy Election Night Menus

It’s Election night!

And even if you’ve been dreading this day, this Election Night menu is one bright spot to look forward to.

Our friends at Food52.com have come up with two Election Night menus with such winners as Herbed Beef Skewers with Horseradish Cream, Yum Dogs and New Englandah Burgers.

Click here to see the two competing menus — and like all patriotic citizens today, choose your winner!

The best thing is, with this, there really is no wrong way to vote. Either way, you win!

Mmmm, Beef Island

There is a magical place in the British Virgin Islands named BEEF ISLAND.

I imagined in my mind it would be shaped much like a meat loaf. And, well, it kind of is. Check it out above.

The island earned its name during the plantation period when cattle were raised there. But the real reason I stumbled upon this treasure is that Beef Island does not observe Daylight Saving Time so they will not be “falling back” this weekend with most of us. I was trying to find out when I should set my clock back.

Seems they dance to a different drumbeat on Beef Island. And I dig that.

In fact, Beef Island just may be what dreams are made of. I’m daydreaming about eating a Porterhouse on a seaside veranda looking out on that water.

That’s paradise!

Post Halloween Comfort Food

It’s “The Day After.” Maybe you trounced around the neighborhood all night last night and your feet still ache today.

Or perhaps you stayed up all evening answering the door to ghosts and goblins.

Either way, it’s November 1st and this date is officially in the “comfort food zone.”

If you want to make it easy on yourself, you can go the bake and serve route with a lovely Beef Wellington (see above) that you can simply pop in the oven and serve.

Or . . . you can try this recipe for a Beef Pot Pie that’s even gluten free! Click here for more details on that.

Come down from that Halloween high with a beefy meal that’ll bring you back to earth. It’s a great place to be . . . the holidays are just around the corner!

Enjoy!
