Resolving to Eat Lean Steaks in the New Year?

The New Year is always a good time to reevaluate things we’re doing and making shifts where needed.

So many of us need to watch our waistlines. So how can we do that as steak lovers?

Lean cuts of steak!

Some of my faves are these steaks and beef certified by the American Heart Association to be extra lean.

There are Top Sirloin steaks, steak tips, ground beef patties and more. A great start.

So, you’ve got some lean beef. Now how do you cook it?

Here are some fantastic ideas from Chef Richard Chamberlain – Great Grilling With Lean Beef.

He’s got Mushroom Merlot Burgers for you. And Dijon-Wine Steak Kabobs.

Delish!

Try these out and let’s all have a healthier 2014!

It’s American Heart Month!

I love February.

It’s a celebration of love; of all things heart related.

And what’s not to love about that?

Since it’s American Heart Month, it’s the time when we focus on keeping our hearts healthy and sound so they can carry us through all the wonderful events in our lives.

As for me, I’m a beef eater. There’s no doubt about it. But I like to choose lean cuts most of the time so my ticker — and the rest of my body — stays ready to go at a moment’s notice.

You know, like when I have to climb the stairs for the umpteenth time. Or run after my kids.

I particularly like these steaks certified by the American Heart Association. They’re lean.

And now they’re on sale!

Check ’em out and do your part to celebrate American Heart Month!

National Nutrition Month: Focus on Lean Meat

Since March is National Nutrition Month, there’s a lot of talk about eating healthy out there.

We steak lovers strive to be healthy, too, so I thought we might like a refresher on what the leanest cuts of meat actually are.

And where’s the best place to get this information? The American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at EatRight.org.

Click here to see the full answer to the question:  “Which cuts of meat are considered lean?”

And when you’re ready to incorporate some sirloin into your weekly menus, you can order some fantastic beef that has been certified extra lean by the American Heart Association here.

What are YOUR goals for this National Nutrition Month???
