Tuscan Roasted Steak Spiedini

In celebration of American Heart Month, here’s a great recipe using steaks certified by the American Heart Association to be extra lean.

This Tuscan Roasted Steak Spiedini is possibly the yummiest way I know of to honor this month dedicated to heart health. It’s got all sorts of Tuscan-inspired flavors.

You can see the heart healthy steak recipe here, try it at home and then toast, “To your health!” this month.

Cel-e-brate good times, come on! 🙂

It’s American Heart Month!

I love February.

It’s a celebration of love; of all things heart related.

And what’s not to love about that?

Since it’s American Heart Month, it’s the time when we focus on keeping our hearts healthy and sound so they can carry us through all the wonderful events in our lives.

As for me, I’m a beef eater. There’s no doubt about it. But I like to choose lean cuts most of the time so my ticker — and the rest of my body — stays ready to go at a moment’s notice.

You know, like when I have to climb the stairs for the umpteenth time. Or run after my kids.

I particularly like these steaks certified by the American Heart Association. They’re lean.

And now they’re on sale!

Check ’em out and do your part to celebrate American Heart Month!

Disappearing Menu Items

Some favorite dishes are fading fast from restaurant menus. But why?

Apparently, tastes change over time and, as is the case in this day and age, we simply don’t want to take the time for complicated recipes and cooking techniques.

An article at TheDailyMeal.com tells us about 11 menu items quickly disappearing. Two of which are Beef Stroganoff (yum!) and Salisbury Steak (double yum).

Sad, but the beautiful thing is . . . we can still make these dishes at home! And I don’t know about you, but I still do!

I love to use this Sweet Vidalia ground beef when I make Salisbury Steak. I mean, come on, the onions are already in it! Of course, you can use regular ground beef also and add your own onions to make it just the way you like.

Don’t depend on restaurants to dictate what “trends” you’ll be eating. Cook your favorites and let these classics live on!

Here’s one Beef Stroganoff recipe to try at home and here’s another.

Need to know how to cook a fab Salisbury Steak? Try this yummy recipe.

Read about all the disappearing menu items here and resolve to keep them alive in your home! I know I will!
