Father’s Day Steak Dinner

By

Father’s Day is this Sunday!

And even though the day is supposed to be all about him, you can benefit, too.

IF you cook him a steak dinner, that is.

Feeling experimental? Try this Steak with Herb Butter recipe and impress Dad with your stellar culinary skills.

The recipe suggests ribeye or sirloin, but you can try it with another cut if you prefer.

Click here for all the details for making this a Father’s Day meal to remember.

Happy eating . . . and happy Father’s Day!

Mom’s Favorite Steak Is…

By

Mother’s Day is over. Did you treat her right?

If there was a steak involved, I say a resounding YES!

Now, we traditionally think of steak as being Dad’s favorite, but if your mom is anything like me – Mom gives Pops a run for his money on this one.

So, tell me, what is your mother’s favorite cut?

I’m a mom and my kids know my favorite is a ribeye. Yummy, yummy ribeye.

But I’ll tell you MY mom’s favorite. Filet mignon. She likes hers butterfly cut.

But everyone’s different. So what’s YOUR mother’s ultimate cut of beef? I’d like to know. Tell me in the comment section!

Steak Fan Club

By

You know, in the age of the Internet, you can find just about ANYTHING you’re looking for – good or bad.

In the “good” department, I have found a Steak Fan Club that just might be something you’re interested in.

They have fun polls (ribeye is the favorite steak) and comment threads – and purty pictures of beef.

Everything a meat-loving girl or boy could want.

If that kind of thing strikes your fancy, head on over to FanPop.com and check out the steak club.

You just might find kindred spirits – or even your soulmate – over there.

Hey, common interests are important!

So check it out and let me know what you think!

Steak At Home

By

I love it when this . . .

…and this…

…is the evening’s entertainment.

Seriously, give us a ribeye and a Kansas City strip steak and my hubby and I are occupied for hours.

Preparing a marinade, letting them sit, grilling and anticipating, eating and THEN talking about how good the steaks were.

That takes, what, all day long?

Oh, the joy of eating a beautiful meal! It’s one of life’s best gifts. And when I can enjoy it at home – it’s even better.

Here’s to simple pleasures!

P.S. Do you like the blue lights on the grill? They don’t do anything but they sure are cool at night!

Steak: An Act of Love

By

See that steak up there?

That’s what love looks like.

My honey prepared that beautiful ribeye for me this weekend – complete with mood lighting, ’80s music (because nothing says “love” like Tone Loc) and clearing of the dishes. All of the things I like.

That’s why I made that photo look like it was in a dream sequence. It was.

After a week-full of “Can you do this?” and “Mom, where’s my _____?” and “You owe me $XXX.XX” – I needed a display of affection.

Apparently, it showed.

Because the hubs planned this meal just for me.

Funny how food is a way to show love, but we know it’s been that way for thousands and thousands of years. Who am I to question it now? It works for me.

And hey, I got a steak out of the deal. It’s not exactly “The Notebook,” but I’ll pray for more nights like those – and I’ll be thankful every single time!

Who in your life could use a steak?

Selecting Ribeye Steaks

By

This short video gives us a few pointers on selecting a good ribeye steak.

I love what she has to say but I must add one more tip of my own.

Trust your steak vendor first. If you know you continually get quality steaks from somewhere – go back to them!

THEN, follow the tips in this video!

Have a fantastically steaky weekend!

Steaky Labor Day Choices

By

I like great quality meat. But I like a good bargain, too. And I have to start planning for Labor Day now. It will sneak up on me.

So this Labor Day holiday I’m going to stock up on some of our neighborhood favorites – because inevitably, the neighborhood ends up in our back yard.

I really love that because I like being in control. I’m neurotic that way. We have burgers, steaks and chicken. Everyone’s happy.

We eat the food I like, listen to the music I enjoy – you get the picture. So why wouldn’t I want the festivities at my house? What’s a few crumbs on the counter among friends when I can make sure I have Teriyaki sauce for my ribeye? See how that works?

I’m looking forward to Labor Day because it’s that last grasp at a summer feeling. People are off work, it’s still warm out where we live and folks are in the mood to have fun. I like that.

So come on, Labor Day! I’m ready for ya!

I’m just not ready for you to be over.

5 Simple Steps to the Perfect Steak

By

Oh, how I love the ribeye.

It makes me happy. Gives me joy. Satisfies my meaty urges.

I’m gonna guess you like them too. Wanna make yours “perfect?”

Southtier has compiled five easy steps to achieve just that.

Knowing me, I’ll mess one up and achieve a pretty great steak – just missing the perfect mark.

But hey, a “pretty great” steak still surpasses anything else I could possibly eat. So there.

Maybe you’ll fare better.

Check out Southtier’s five steps here. And let me know if yours turns out perfect also!

Oh Kobe You’re So Fine…

By

THIS is where it’s at.

Or so I’ve heard.

You see, I haven’t actually had the pleasure of immersing myself in a Kobe steak yet.

I think it’s because I get stuck in my ways. When I eat a steak I end up cooking my go-to cut.

And, I guess I just haven’t gotten around to trying Kobe. It’s just inertia, really.

I’ve heard such amazing things about it you’d think I would have rushed out and tried it.

I’ve heard about its incredible marbling, flavor and tenderness. This photo is of boneless ribeye. Mmmm.

I should treat myself. Okay, I will. Yeah, thanks for the encouragement!

I WILL!!!

Have YOU tried it? If you have, is it the only steak you’ll eat now?

Top 10 Steak Recipes

By

If you’re here, you love a good steak.

But we all have our own ideas about what makes a steak great. I like a ribeye, thinly cut, medium well with Teriyaki sauce. Don’t judge.

Some people like A-1 sauce on a thick, very pink Kansas City strip.

I don’t mock them – just like I hope they don’t mock me. There’s room for all of us, right?

Check out this list of “Top 10 Steak Recipes.” This list includes greatness like herb-crusted filet mignon, carne asada and marinated London Broil. My mouth is watering right now.

Now, I’m not sure what qualifies these particular ones as THE top 10, but it’s a good place to start.

And if you want really good meat, get it here.

What are YOUR top 10 steak recipe favorites???

Ready for Steak This Weekend?

By

If you’re looking to cook something a little different this weekend, try this flavorful boneless ribeye steak recipe from Chef Marcus Samuelsson of Good Morning America.

It would seriously be a good morning if you served this up with some eggs and fixins the next day.  Just sayin’.

Try this paprika-y, garlicky seasoning and tell me what you think. This just might become your favorite new way to cook a steak!

Springtime in Steakland

By

This weekend, the sun teased us where we live and gave us some gorgeous, spring-like weather.

Here’s what we chose to do with it. . .

Uh, huh. We grilled out. It turned into this. . .

And soon after, the weather yelled, “Psyche! Just kidding!” Then it turned back into nasty winter.

I’m SO glad we took advantage of it when we had the chance. I just hate sending my hubby out to grill in the snow. I’ll do it, but I just hate it. ;)

Here’s to more springy weather. It puts me in a fabulous mood – and keeps me well fed!

Celebrating With Steak? You’re Not Alone

By

So, according to a recent survey done by the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, 62% of us want BEEF! for Valentine’s Day.

Self-serving? Maybe. But most definitely true.

Here’s more of what that survey found:

When you’re cooking up romance for your Valentine’s Day dinner, the numbers indicate you should pony up for the tiny but tender filet mignon. The Cattlemen’s survey says 53 percent of Americans associate this cut with candelight dinners, and 50 percent with saying “I love you” over a meal.

Still suffering a little bit from that big holiday spend? The less expensive ribeye got 35 percent of the vote, with a tasty T-bone grabbing 32 percent of American tastebuds for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. And you can always cook it at home to save some cash, and up the romance.

Seriously, go here if you haven’t already and order some steaks. Apparently, your sweetie is expecting it.

And you don’t want to disappoint.
