Over the years, we’ve talked a lot about steak and a lot about basketball. Because, well, you’ve gotta munch on something while you watch some hoops!

And it SHOULD be something beef-related.

We’ve discussed recipes for basketball-watching parties, a Meat Madness bracket and basketball players fueling up on steak for the big game among other things.

Let’s take a trip down Memory Lane and relive all those wonderful, beefy basketball moments, shall we? Just click here to see them all.

My “Final Four” – 4 Ways to Top Your Steak

MY Final Four ways to top your steak while you’re watching all those games?

Easy!

They’re a fun way to dress up a steak for a different twist. So here we go:

#1. Steak Butter.

Delish. Flavorful, fresh and drizzled just right. Mmmm.

Steak Butter

#2. Fruit.

You heard me. Fruit. Mango, lime – just try it! You might be surprised!

Porterhouse Steak

#3. Salsa.

Spoon some on top of a piping hot steak and just think of all the spicy flavors that will come alive.

#4. Cheese.

Filet Mignon with Cheese

It’s not just for Philly Cheesesteaks anymore. No, siree! Blue cheese, gorgonzola, feta. Something that crumbles works well. Although I’m not opposed to the melted, gooey variety either.

Basketball Players Need Steak!

In this article, the University of Kentucky’s men’s basketball coach laments his team’s restrictions on food put on them by the NCAA.

The team – and all NCAA teams – must adhere to the strict three meals a day rule and no more. His players are going hungry!

Imagine burning 2,500 calories a pop and not being able to refuel your body if it’s not a set mealtime. Elite athletes don’t work this way!

Folks, we can’t change the NCAA rules but we can eat for our teams, right?

That’s how I look at it. As I watch the NCAA Tournament games this weekend I’ll be fueling up for those guys.

It’s the least I can do. But, really, I wish I could send them a big Porterhouse (see above). Surely that would get them through!

But, apparently, that would be like buying them a car according to the rules. Don’t want to violate any rules.

What do you think? Should the rules be changed to allow players to eat when their bodies need it? They’re starving!
