A Reunion Deserves Steak

We recently had a family reunion of sorts — hosted at our house.

And what did we serve to celebrate the occasion?

Why, steak of course!!!

T-bones and boneless ribeyes crowded the grill. (Check out that big one there in front.)

We sat around the dining room table, laughed, drank wine and caught up. Just like it should be.

We even made t-shirts for the occasion. But I’ll spare you those cheesy shots.

This is the plate ready to head to the table — spatula and all.

That’s a lot of beef.

My hubby was thankful everyone came (well, it WAS his side’s reunion after all) but moreso because he had leftover steaks for the next 3 days.

Score.

That’s what summer days are all about at our house! 🙂

Steak Heaven

That’s where we were on Sunday as we celebrated Mother’s Day with ribeyes and strips.

steakmeal

Some were thick cut, some were thin and some were in between.

Some had spicy marinades and some just had salt and pepper.

We aim to please and, believe me, everyone was pleased.

We put the steaks on the grill while everyone settled in and the sun was still shining . . .

rawstrips

Do you see those strips? They’re to die for. They’re marinaded in spicy Tabasco Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and a new mixture of seasonings my mother-in-law gave us.

Even I don’t know what’s in it. But that’s half the fun.

Now, check out this mouth-watering ribeye . . .

ribeyeongrill

Couldn’t you just eat it up?

Well, I did. Sorry.

I like ’em thinly cut and this one was absolutely perfect.

Just like Mother’s Day.

I marinaded mine in regular Worcestershire sauce, the mystery seasoning mix and salt and pepper. I can’t take it quite as spicy as my husband can.

Then, when it was on my plate I used the ever-present Teriyaki sauce to bring out every last juicy drop of goodness.

I think there was a point during the meal where no one spoke to me.

I was having some kind of Zen moment. You know, just me and the steak. As one.

Hope your day was just as wonderful!

Celebrate with Steak!

Are you ready for tax day?

Is anyone really ever ready for tax day? Let’s be real.

But it’s all a part of living in the U. S. of A. So I’m happy to do it when I know some of those taxes go to our men and women in the armed forces and other really good things.

The rest I just ignore — or voice opinions about to my congressman, er, congresswoman.

And since tomorrow I will breathe a huge sigh of relief that this year’s festival of paperwork is over I’m going to celebrate.

And, oh yeah, it’s really close to my wedding anniversary too. So I’ll be celebrating that as well.

We’re going to serve up some juicy ribeyes and toast another year under our belts.

We just won’t mention how both of our belts had to be let out a couple of notches.

I’ll post some photos so you can drool too, okay?

Happy Tax Day/Anniversary/Fill-in-the-Blank Day to you! I think we all could use a little dose of steaky goodness right about now!
