Dinner and a Movie Ideas

It’s almost time for the big awards show!

Have you seen all the movies you want to see before the winners are announced? I haven’t quite seen them all and if you’re like me, we’ve gotta get crackin’!

So, let’s make it fun!

I’m really, really behind the times so I plan to fire up the Netflix, cook a romantic dinner for two and make an evening of it!

Come to think of it, I’ll break out some delicious steak recipes, and actually make a weekend out of it! I told you I was really behind.

Dinner and a Movie Ideas

I’m thinking of trying this Japanese Flank Steak with White Soy and Ginger Sauce on one of the nights. I haven’t tried it yet and the ginger, garlic and Dijon mustard in the sauce sounds absolutely divine.

It’ll be fun to mix it up a bit.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re going to have steaks two, maybe three nights in a row?

Yes. Yes, I am.

It’s been done before and I will do it again. I recommend it, actually. And my husband is right there with me. He’s all for it. We’re obsessed together. It’s more fun with a partner in crime.

Not that loving steak is criminal. Oh, no, it is not.

Night two might consist of – of course Netflix – and this recipe for Tuscan Roasted Steak Spiedini. This one calls for steaks certified by the American Heart Association so I feel good about this one, for sure.

Then, for our final evening, I’m thinking this Beef and Vegetable Soup will hit the spot. It’s soup – with STEAK in it! Genius!

Now, if we’re still not caught up, at least we will have a working knowledge of a lot of what’s going on when the awards are announced. It’s much more fun that way.

And we got to eat a lot of steak along the way!

Creating a Romantic Dinner at Home for Valentine’s Day

Ahhh, amore! That most coveted of holidays where we celebrate L-O-V-E is almost upon us. February 14th is coming up! Are you ready?

Romantic Dinner at Home

Now, some people adore Valentine’s Day and some, well, they aren’t fans. I get it. We all see things from our own perspective. But the day isn’t just about a Romeo and Juliet kind of love in my mind. There are all kinds of love.

Truly, you don’t have to be a part of a traditional couple to appreciate Valentine’s Day. To me, this holiday celebrates love in all forms. And that’s something we ALL need.

Have a love interest this February? Create a romantic dinner at home! Want to show your kids, your grandma – anyone – they’re special? Cook them a meal they’ll love!

Don’t go out to a restaurant where you’ll have to fight with hordes of people in the parking lot, in the waiting area, in the dining area. Make a nice dinner on your own turf. And on your own terms. It’s more meaningful that way.

YOU pick the music, the setting, the theme. And have fun!

Twice Baked Potatoes

Is filet mignon their favorite steak? Pair it with some delicious Twice Baked Potatoes and you have a dinner that will make anyone feel special. Taking the time to prepare a meal that fills the belly AND the soul sends a message they won’t forget.

How about a beautiful meal of Beef Wellington? It’s still cold out, and this tender beef surrounded by a flaky, delicate crust is such a satisfying dinner. It’ll warm ‘em up from the inside out!

Think about what THEY might like and what food would make them happy. Then just go with it.

Enjoy making someone feel that they mean something to you by preparing them a romantic dinner at home this Valentine’s Day and YOU’LL be blessed too!

Date With a Steak

You know you love it.

Okay, so this photo won’t be on any magazine covers anytime soon. I took it with my cell phone on a date with my husband.

But it documents a wonderful evening where steak was on the menu and actual conversation was had. Best. Date. Ever.

Where is the green on my plate, you ask? Well, there WAS a huge orange carrot at one time (which I moved), does that count?

Listen, we had no kids with us and I did not want to eat my veggies that night. So there.

What about you? Is steak on your date night menu? Valentine’s Day is coming up . . . do you have a steak meal in mind for your sweetie?
